Our Story

Since its opening in 1963 in Los Alamitos California,  the Pasty Kitchen has been known to have the best pasty in town. Each pasty is baked to perfection using secret spice recipe combined with the premier chicken and beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and our freshly baked pie crust. With our unique recipe and delicious flavor customers are calling us one of the best restaurants in town and perfect for any occasion.

New Generation

Same Great Taste

The store was sold to Doug Gilbert, a former employee of Bob, who bought it in 1980, has kept the original tradition alive by making everything the exact same way. The current owner, Michael Richards, has decided to simplify the process through the introduction of a fresh and delicious food commissary to make the lives of the employees easier without compromising the quality of the pasty. The idea is to keep the show alive while spreading the concept to new parts of the country who have never heard of the pasty.

Our Customer Say

"I love the Pasty Kitchen. I've been going there since I was a kid and my mother used to bring me. Best meat pies in town."

Food: 5/5  |  Service: 5/5  |  Atmosphere: 4/5

-David Mobly

"What can I say about Pasty Kitchen....They're great all-around. Affordable. Delicious. Fast. Consistent. Locals already know how awesome this little place is. For anyone who hasn't tried it....it's meat pies. And they're wonderful.

Feed your whole family for $20 just like the olden days.

Check it out."
Do not drive by! This is an iconic "hole in the wall" restaurant. It doesnt look like much from the outside, actually not a lot on the inside either, no eat in -just the kitchen and cash register. Order is filled while you wait, and then you go. The proof is in the food freshness, rich flavors, fresh ingredients and wrapped up in a fabulous pastry crust. You will be putting this on your list of "musts" when you come to the area, or if you live here it will be a weekly. Yum!
"Go... I said, go. This mom & pop kind of place has been here, on Katella, for... forever! Different owners but always the same product since before the 70's, yes, I was around in the 70's. Pastry, hand held pie, beef or chicken with cubed potatoes and a little carrot (a good blend, not over bearing). A little salt & pepper for me, and ketchup, and you have a meal in your hand that's different from your typical burger or sandwich. Take some home for the family."
